How to import Tradovate trades into VeloTape

Download an Orders CSV from Tradovate and upload it to VeloTape.

Import trades from a Tradovate Orders CSV

Follow these steps to download your Orders report and upload it to VeloTape.

Download the Tradovate Orders CSV

  1. Open Tradovate Desktop and go to Accounts.
  2. Open the settings for the account you want to import.
  3. Select Orders — not Performance.
  4. Choose the date range, click Go, then click Download CSV.

Upload the CSV in VeloTape

  1. Open Settings → Accounts → Add account.
  2. Choose Broker → Tradovate → File upload.
  3. Enter the account name, currency, and starting balance.
  4. Select the Orders CSV you downloaded from Tradovate.
  5. Create the account and import the file.

The standard Orders CSV may omit commissions.

Unsupported CSV or missing columnsDownload the Orders report again and upload the original CSV without changing its columns.
Entry or exit times are shiftedTradovate exports local timestamps. Check that your computer uses the same timezone as when you downloaded the CSV.
Working or cancelled orders are absentThe import includes filled orders; working and cancelled orders do not appear as trades.

Which Tradovate report should I export?
Export the Orders report as a CSV. Do not export the Performance report.
Why might times be shifted?
Tradovate exports local timestamps, so times can shift if your computer timezone differs from the timezone used for the export.
Are commissions included?
The standard Tradovate Orders CSV may omit commissions.
